So, the point is, when you hear a story about an accident, maybe a fatal one, involving a self-driving car, remember that the only accurate way to gauge the overall safety of self-driving cars is to compare it to human driven cars. We suck at driving, compared to the AIs that operate self-driving cars. Besides which, this is a brand new and profoundly complex technology, I would expect there to be accidents and tragedies in the beginning.
