Water Level In Mumbai Lakes At 22.26% On July 11; ‘Yellow Alert’ In City For Next Three Days

The water inventory within the lakes supplying ingesting water to Mumbai is at 22.26%, in line with the information shared by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Company on Thursday.

The collective water inventory within the seven reservoirs is now at 3,22,143 million litres until 6:00 am on July 11. On at the present time in 2023, the helpful water inventory was 26.43% (3,82,540 million litres) and 40.32% (5,83,640 million litres) in 2022.

The seven reservoirs that offer water to Mumbai are Bhatsa, Higher Vaitarna, Center Vaitarna, Tansa, Modak Sagar, Vihar and Tulsi – positioned in Mumbai, Thane and Nashik districts.

Mumbai wants round 4,000-4,500 million litres of water on daily basis. The entire capability of those lakes is 14.47 lakh million litres.

As per the most recent BMC knowledge, the water degree in Tansa is at 45.57%. Modak Sagar is at 37.73%. The helpful water inventory in Center Vaitarna is at 22.15% whereas Tulsi Lake is at 58.59% of its full capability. Vihar Lake has a gift inventory of 40.96%.

Mumbai’s Powai Lake started overflowing on Monday. The lake, which has a storage capability of 545 crore litres, began overflowing at 4.45 am. Nevertheless, the water from the lake shouldn’t be potable and is used just for industrial functions.

From the gross helpful contents of Bhatsa, 5,75,700 million litres are allotted for MCGM utilization. Along with this, the Maharashtra authorities has sanctioned 1,37,000 million litres of water for Mumbai from Bhatsa and 91,130 million litres of water from the Higher Vaitarna dam for this season.
