Watch as furious protesters storm palace and take dip in presidential swimming pool as police open fire on crowds

THIS is the surprising second a whole lot of livid protesters stormed Iraq’s authorities palace after months of political unrest.

Violence erupted within the capital of Baghdad on Monday after rioters tore down the Republican Palace gates and barged into the constructing.

The protests got here after influential Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr stated he was quitting politics for good – sparking fury from hundreds of his loyal followers.

Demonstrators had been seen taking a dip within the pool contained in the palace – a constructing contained in the capital’s fortified Inexperienced Zone which homes authorities compounds and embassies.

Safety forces fired tear gasoline at protesters on the entrance to the closely fortified authorities zone as dozens of younger males hurled stones at one another in road battles.

Gunfire was heard in central Baghdad, reporters stated, apparently from weapons being fired into the air.

Surprising footage from contained in the palace confirmed scuffles breaking out between protesters and baton-wielding cops sporting bullet proof vests.

The Iraqi navy stated they’ve been finishing up “the very best ranges of self-restraint and brotherly behaviour to stop clashes or the spilling of Iraqi blood”.

It follows weeks of tensions and protests sparked by Sadr’s determination to withdraw his complete political occasion from the Iraqi parliament.

Sadr gained the biggest share of seats within the nation’s October 2021 elections – however did not type a majority authorities, resulting in an enormous political disaster in Iraq.

In July, Mohammed Shiya al-Sudani was nominated to steer the nation – sparking a wave of protests from Sadr’s supporters.
