(Reuters) – Teamsters Canada, Canadian Nationwide Railway (TSX:) and Canadian Pacific (NYSE:) Kansas Metropolis have agreed to restart stalled contract negotiations together with federal mediators, Minister of Labor Steven MacKinnon mentioned on Monday.
“The conferences have been frank, constructive discussions that mirrored the gravity of the state of affairs earlier than Canada’s railways, workforce and full financial system,” MacKinnon mentioned in a press release, posted on X, after a dialogue with the management of the union and the rail corporations.
The purpose of the assembly was to debate growing the tempo and frequency of discussions at each corporations, which had slowed down after the federal authorities briefly suspended employees’ proper to strike, Teamsters Canada mentioned in a separate assertion.
All events would meet once more on Wednesday in Montreal and Calgary, the union added.
