I think one thing everyone needs to keep in mind, this mass layoff as far as I can tell is only happening with start ups and FAANG companies. I work as a software engineer, just never with any of these types of companies and I feel like my job is quite secure, and there’s lots still hiring. Now granted it’s not the absurd $400k jobs that I’m applying for, but I make something that I’m more than satisfied with. And I don’t get the ridiculous perks a lot of these people got, but I only work 37.5 hours a week, make good money and am appreciated, and that’s all I really want. This isn’t a massive tech bubble popping or anything like that. This is people starting to realize that 400k pay cheques and ridiculous benefits might not make the most sense.
