‘No amount of inflation can…’: Bengaluru parents outrage over ₹2.1 lakh fees for 3rd grade

Dad and mom in Bengaluru are taking to the streets and social media, outraged over skyrocketing personal college charges after a publish revealed a ₹2.1 lakh annual price for a third-grade pupil.

The price breakdown, shared by the Voice of Dad and mom Affiliation, consists of ₹1.9 lakh for tuition, ₹9,000 for annual fees, and ₹11,449 labeled as “imprest.” The publish’s caption summed up the frustration: “₹2.1 lakh charges for third commonplace in Bengaluru. No quantity of inflation can justify this. The federal government regulates engineering school charges however avoids the subject of faculty charges. There isn’t any enterprise like college enterprise.”

The Voice of Dad and mom Affiliation has referred to as for rapid authorities intervention, describing the scenario as “profiteering and commercialization of training.” Whereas acknowledging colleges’ constitutional rights to function autonomously below Articles 29, 30, and 19(1)(g), the group argued that these freedoms don’t allow extreme profiteering.

The affiliation urged the federal government to ascertain price dedication committees and implement strict oversight to stop colleges from exploiting weak regulatory methods. It additionally accused colleges of resisting accountability measures and criticized corruption for perpetuating the issue.

The viral publish has triggered an intense debate on social media concerning the affordability and accessibility of training. One consumer argued that “working a college with good infrastructure is pricey, and capping charges might have antagonistic outcomes. The most effective resolution is opening high quality authorities colleges.” Others pointed to systemic shifts as the answer, with a commenter writing, “When the privileged select authorities colleges, their infrastructure will robotically enhance. It’s the federal government’s job to make sure free and high quality training for all.”

Some customers attributed the excessive charges to premium worldwide curricula. “Faculties in areas like Whitefield and Sarjapur cost equally, citing Cambridge and IB packages and smaller class sizes,” one commenter famous. In the meantime, others blamed market dynamics, observing, “Dad and mom keen to pay such charges create this market, enabling colleges to cost exorbitantly.”
