Austin, TX — Today, NextGen America and MoveOn Political Action announced a nine-stop nationwide tour, featuring special guest Senator Bernie Sanders. With stops in five key battleground states, these events will engage and mobilize young voters to the polls ahead of this year’s midterm election. The “Our Future Is Now” rallies in Nevada, Texas, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania will feature live music, free swag, and celebrity appearances.

In 2020, young voters turned out in record numbers and propelled Democrats to victory. The tour will build on this momentum by connecting with young people across the country to make sure they have a plan to vote and are energized to make an impact this election cycle.

“Over the last few years, we’ve built a progressive movement of young people who are more motivated than ever to create a country that represents them and reflects their values,” NextGen America President Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez said. “With this historic tour, we are so excited to continue building our power across the country by encouraging young voters to cast their ballots in the midterm election. From abortion rights to economic justice, young people are acutely tuned in to what’s at stake and are fired up to fight for their lives. Throughout the tour, we’re meeting young people where they’re at, and bringing Bernie with us, to ensure we protect our rights from extremist Republicans who wish to send us back in time.”

MoveOn Political Action Executive Director Rahna Epting said, “We are thrilled to rev up our GOTV efforts in key battleground states with these high-energy rallies. We know many younger Americans are fed up with MAGA Republicans dividing communities and attacking our freedoms, and we’re ready to fire them up with Senator Sanders and NextGen to fight for our future. This is not the time to sit on the sidelines, it is time to vote, fight, and win!”

Additional details for each of the events, including locations and timing, will be sent out in the coming days. Our schedule is as follows:

  • October 28: Nevada (Reno and Las Vegas)
  • October 29: Texas (Austin)
  • November 4: Wisconsin (Eau Claire, La Crosse, and Madison)
  • November 5: Michigan (Ann Arbor)
  • November 6: Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh and Philadelphia)

NextGen mobilized 1 in every 9 young voters who cast a ballot in 2020, leading to the largest youth voter turnout in history. Ahead of the midterm election, NextGen is contacting over 9.6 million young people across eight key states to elect leaders who will combat the climate crisis, fight for basic civil liberties like the right to abortion access and care, and create an economy that works for all of us.

With MAGA Republicans seeking to take away our freedoms, overturn our elections, silence our voices, take control of our bodies, and block policies that will benefit all Americans, MoveOn Political Action is mobilizing millions of voters through its largest-ever midterm election program. MoveOn is raising millions for progressive candidates, organizing the largest-at-scale relational voter outreach program of the midterms, and running a multimillion-dollar paid media program to microtarget voters to boost turnout.

NextGen America and MoveOn Political Action are proud to welcome Senator Sanders as a special guest at these events. Together, we are committed to engaging and empowering the largest, most diverse generation in American history to turn out for progressive issues and have our voices heard at the ballot box this cycle.
