IndiGo cancels over 70 flights as crew shortage worsens under new FDTL norms

IndiGo cancelled greater than 70 flights and reported widespread delays on Wednesday amid an acute scarcity of crew following the rollout of Section-2 Flight Obligation Time Limitation norms

IndiGo has cancelled over 70 flights, together with these from Bengaluru and Mumbai airports, on Wednesday, primarily on account of crew shortages, sources stated.

Scores of IndiGo flights have been delayed at varied airports, because the provider struggled to get the crew for working its flights, sources stated.

IndiGo stated there have been cancellations and delays.

“Now we have had a number of unavoidable flight delays and a few cancellations up to now few days on account of varied causes together with expertise points, airport congestion, and operational necessities,” the airline spokesperson stated in a press release.

Crew crunch deepens

“IndiGo has been dealing with acute crew scarcity for the reason that implementation of the second section of the FDTL norms, resulting in cancellations and big delays in its operations throughout the airports,” a supply informed PTI.

“The state of affairs turned unhealthy on Tuesday for the airline and the scarcity turned worse on Wednesday with scores of flights cancelled and delayed from throughout airports within the nation,” the supply stated.

IndiGo on-time efficiency from six key home airports plummeted to 35 per cent on Tuesday whereas Air India clocked 67.2 per cent, Air India Categorical 79.5 per cent, SpiceJet 82.50 per cent and Akasa Air 73.20 per cent, in accordance with the Civil Aviation Ministry web site.

The FDTL shift
