During Sunday morning’s “Powerhouse Roundtable” segment on ABC’s This Week, former Chief of Staff to Vice President Mike Pence, Marc Short slammed co-anchor Jon Karl for crying about Governors Ron DeSantis (R-FL) and Greg Abbott (R-TX) sending migrants to Martha’s Vineyard and Vice President Kamala Harris’s residence respectively. Short accurately pointed out how the United States didn’t have this problem under the Trump-Pence administration because they actually worked to secure the border.

Karl started off by whining to Short and asking him: “do you think this is a good idea, just dropping busloads of people including last night there was a one-month-old baby on a busy street?”

In response, Short noted how “it wasn’t happening in the previous administration because the previous administration actually secured the border.”

He pointed out that DeSantis and Abbott sending migrants to areas where liberal politicians live is “highlighting the hypocrisy and in many cases fake outrage by those on the left and some in the media,” and noted how “the migrants in Florida, they aren’t arriving on the shores of Florida. They’re not walking across the Florida/Georgia line.”

Instead, they are “being flown in by the Biden administration, so somehow it’s okay to fly them across the interior of the United States, everywhere across the United States, but it’s wrong for the governor to then send them to one of the wealthiest communities in America,” Short observed.

Serving as the designated Democrat Party mouthpiece, Karl shot back that “there is a difference in doing it in a coordinated fashion and just showing up at Martha’s Vineyard.”

Short shot back that “if we’re really concerned about the humanitarian crisis Jon, we would be stopping the crisis at the border.”

Pointing to the carnage that’s been caused by open border policies, he reminded viewers that “there’s 200,000 migrants and they estimate 50 percent of the young women are either raped or sexually molested making that long journey from Peru and Columbia up there.”

“If we actually had a policy in place to return migrants to Mexico while they waited for their asylum appeal, as happened in the Trump-Pence administration, you wouldn’t have the same humanitarian crisis we have today,” Short noted.

JON KARL: Do you feel comfortable with this idea of, I mean, you used to work for somebody that lived in the Vice President’s residence, do you think this is a good idea, just dropping busloads of people including last night there was a one-month-old baby on a busy street.

MARC SHORT: John, it wasn’t happening in the previous administration because the previous administration actually secured the border, let’s be honest.

HEIDI HEITKAMP: No.

SHORT: I think that what this is doing is this is highlighting the hypocrisy and in many cases fake outrage by those on the left and some in the media. The migrants in Florida, they aren’t arriving on the shores of Florida. They’re not walking across the Florida/Georgia line. They’re being flown in by the Biden administration, so somehow it’s okay to fly them across the interior of the United States, everywhere across the United States, but it’s wrong for the governor to then send them to one of the wealthiest communities in America. I think it’s highly hypocritical—

KARL: There is a difference in doing it in a coordinated fashion and just showing up at Martha’s Vineyard—

SHORT: Let’s question about how coordinated it really is if they’re being dropped off all across the interior. And if we’re really concerned about the humanitarian crisis Jon, we would be stopping the crisis at the border. There’s 200,000 migrants and they estimate 50 percent of the young women are either raped or sexually molested making that long journey from Peru and Columbia up there. If we actually had a policy in place to return migrants to Mexico while they waited for their asylum appeal, as happened in the Trump-Pence administration, you wouldn’t have the same humanitarian crisis we have today.
