Exclusive: GST Council to consider input tax credit to hotels, restaurants; may increase GST at 12-18%

The Authorities might give enter tax credit score to lodge and restaurant trade which is presently not given on the present 5 % Items and Companies (GST) tax levy, Zee Enterprise’ Tarun Sharma reviews. The choice could possibly be taken within the subsequent GST Council assembly in April.

The GST Council is predicted to take a significant choice on the problem of GST on lodges and eating places, Sharma mentioned including that the levy might go up from 5 % now to 12 % or 18 %. It might additionally permit enter tax credit score to the trade, which until now was not accessible. 

The demand for enter tax credit score was longstanding from the trade and this might now be thought of through the GST council assembly, Sharma added.
