The big box workers are already on strike; it’s why most big box stores are dead and why Amazon is so big. Amazon is bad, but at least there’s no customer-facing interactions or having to manage impatient people who can’t wait in line. This is the secret to Amazon’s success and is why their workforce should Unionize as it will eventually become the only retail workforce left.
Just look at electronics retailers. 20 years ago there was Circuit City, CompUSA, Radioshack and Fry’s. Now it’s either a shrinking (since they removed the DVDs, PC parts and do phones now) Best Buy or Amazon. Older people can remember Woolworth’s, Ward’s, and Kmart all of which fell to Target and Walmart. If you want a TV deal there’s only 4 places to actually do that now.
